Company Mission
Direct from the company website, "Silpada Designs' mission is to empower women in their personal quest for success and in their desire to look and feel their very best".
History
Bonnie Kelly and Teresa Walsh became friends when they both signed up as room
mothers for their children's first grade class. They wondered how they could
make some extra money together so they tried several different ideas but did not
find them to be too much fun. Then they both decided to take twenty-five dollars
from their grocery money and invested it in Sterling Silver Jewelry that they
both loved.
They designed their jewelry and hosted the parties themselves which were called
"A Fun Ladies' Night out Playing Dress-up with Jewelry!"™" Other women asked how
they could be involved because they, too, wanted to have fun with their jobs. In
1997, they created the catalog and an exclusive line of Silpada Designs Sterling
Silver Jewelry and their customers and hostesses subsequently became
Representatives.
Products
The jewelry collection focuses on rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches and
earrings set in sterling silver. Combinations of turquoise, obsidian, black
onyx, rutilated quartz, rhinestones, coco beads and yellow jade mixed with the
silver to create stunning displays of fashion. The print catalog includes more
than four hundred and fifty pieces of jewelry and fashion accessories.
Product Guarantee: 60 Days Free Warranty Replacement, after 60 days, handling
fee charged.
Compensation Plan
Very little information is readily available on the pay plan. Representatives earn thirty percent commissions on personal jewelry sales and added commissions on sales of those sponsored into the business. Representatives may also earn prizes from contests, free jewelry and trips.
Community or Charitable Work
Silpada Designs donates one dollar from the sale of every Silver, Gold and Platinum Jewelry Polishing Cloth to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The packaging for the cloth is appropriately entitled "Polishing Off Juvenile Diabetes".
